TILTING BALCONY SYSTEM

Opacmare has developed a tilting balcony system
for a new 115-foot yacht that offers significant added value.

A prestigious English boatyard, a new 115-foot yacht (to be presented in 2011) and a producer of components who believes in innovation and customization: these are the elements that gave life to a fully automatic, customized tilting balcony system.

Opacmare has designed a mechanical system that allows – in sequence – tilting of a 6’6” x 3’ balcony (fully built-in into the bulwark) and raising of stanchions from their bay right up to the actual height of the handrail. The opening and closing of balcony is quite simple and only requires one person to operate the control panel.

The mechanism includes two automatic cleats to block the balcony when closed, an electronic control panel with sensors to handle opening and closing and a 24V hydraulic control panel equipped with electro valves.

The structure is self-supporting, constructed in AISI 316L stainless steel and equipped with hydraulic cylinders, fixing plate, hinges and either automatic or manual stanchions complete with bushes. Internal and external balcony finishing is at boat builder’s discretion as per style and materials approved by the owner.

A prototype of the Opacmare automatic balcony will be on display at METS 2010, Amsterdam 16th – 18th November.
